Icon Class Cabins Get Smarter: App Controls Now Run 8,400-Plus Staterooms

Honeywell's connected cabin system now powers more than 8,400 staterooms across Icon, Star and Legend of the Seas, letting guests adjust climate, lighting and room features from the Royal Caribbean app anywhere onboard.

Icon of the Seas at dawn in Miami

Honeywell announced October 29 that its connected cabin automation system now powers more than 8,400 staterooms across Royal Caribbean's three in-service Icon Class ships: Icon, Star and Legend of the Seas. Guests can personalize climate, lighting and room features through the Royal Caribbean app from anywhere onboard, while the system monitors conditions and equipment performance and adjusts settings automatically.

The system runs on programmable controllers in each stateroom that connect cabin controls, shipboard networks and onboard platforms, giving crews centralized monitoring and control. Honeywell says the setup balances guest comfort with more efficient operations across more than 2,800 staterooms on each ship.

What it means for your sailing: if you are booked on Icon, Star or Legend of the Seas, expect cabin controls in the app rather than only at the wall panel, so set your room the way you like it as soon as you board and adjust it from anywhere on the ship. No booking action is needed. The system is already live across all three ships.
